The Thelema Lion Foundation, in collaboration with the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), organized the 2025 Women Arise Symposium to mark International Women’s Day. Themed “Accelerating Action Towards Uplifting Vulnerable Women in Nigeria,” the event focused on empowering women through financial support and skill acquisition.
Dr. Tony Ojukwu, Executive Secretary of NHRC, was represented at the event by Hajia Rabi Anwar, Director of Legal Services and Enforcement. He emphasized the need to protect vulnerable populations, particularly women and children, and commended Thelema Lion Foundation for its humanitarian efforts. He also called for collective action in ensuring a society where women and children can thrive.
Dr. Ifeoma Agu, Founder of Thelema Lion Foundation, highlighted the organization’s impact, revealing that over 400 women had been empowered in the past two years, with a target to uplift 2,500 more women in 2025.
A key highlight of the symposium was the presentation of empowerment items, including grinding machines, sewing machines, and cash grants, to selected beneficiaries. The initiative aims to promote financial independence and self-sufficiency among vulnerable women.
