President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has extended warm congratulations to Adewale Adeniyi, the 14th Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), on his 60th birthday, celebrated on January 19, 2025.
In a statement released by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu praised Adeniyi’s leadership since his appointment in June 2023.
The President noted that under Adeniyi’s stewardship, the NCS has undergone significant transformation, marked by the digitalisation and automation of its operations, a renewed focus on professionalism, and enhanced morale among officers.
Tinubu highlighted the remarkable strides made by the Customs Service in surpassing revenue targets and improving trade facilitation, which have had a positive impact on the national economy.
He commended Adeniyi’s innovative anti-smuggling initiatives, which include providing youth with alternative livelihood skills, engaging with traditional institutions, and promoting a culture of effective communication and mutual respect.
The President also lauded the Customs Chief’s achievements in securing significant seizures of arms and ammunition and revitalising the Comptroller-General’s Annual Conference, a platform aimed at evaluating and improving the agency’s operations.
Reflecting on Adeniyi’s over 30 years of service, President Tinubu emphasized the importance of his experience and adaptability in driving the NCS’s progress.
The President offered prayers for continued wisdom, health, and strength for the Comptroller-General as he continues his service to the nation.
