As Nigeria marks 32 years of democratic governance, the Member representing Ilorin West/Asa Federal Constituency of Kwara State, Hon. Muktar Tolani Shagaya, has commended the leadership style and policies of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Hon. Shagaya made this remark while speaking with journalists on the sidelines of the 2025 Democracy Day celebration held at the National Assembly.
According to him, President Tinubu has consistently demonstrated his commitment to democratic principles and the protection of Nigeria’s hard-earned freedom, especially by addressing a joint session of the National Assembly to present his administration’s scorecard.
Addressing concerns over the recent wave of defections from opposition parties, Hon. Shagaya said:
“The President does not lay down the rules of democracy, nor does he dictate which political parties people should belong to. I believe many of those who have defected made that decision voluntarily and chose to join this progressive team.”
The lawmaker also noted that the Tinubu administration has recorded progress in several sectors, particularly in social and economic development. He emphasized that some of the policies, though seemingly tough, are not designed to impoverish the people but will yield positive results in due course.
Commending President Tinubu’s performance over the last two years, Hon. Shagaya expressed optimism for the future, wishing the President continued success as he steer the nation toward sustainable development.
