Troops of Operation FASAN YAMA, in a coordinated intelligence-led operation conducted last week, have neutralized a notorious terrorist kingpin, Yellow Danbokkolo. The operation, carried out in conjunction with Hybrid Forces, the Air Component, and other security agencies, targeted criminal elements terrorizing parts of Eastern Sokoto and beyond.
During the encounter, Danbokkolo sustained multiple gunshot wounds and eventually succumbed to his injuries on Monday, July 1, 2025.
The development was disclosed in a statement signed by the Director of Defence Media Operations, Major General Markus Kangye, who confirmed that the kingpin died from injuries sustained during the fierce battle with troops.
For years, Yellow Danbokkolo had wreaked havoc across communities in Eastern Sokoto. He is infamously remembered for orchestrating the horrific December 2021 attack in Shinkafi Local Government Area of Zamfara State, where an entire busload of passengers was set ablaze and killed. Security sources describe him as even more dreaded than the infamous Bello Turji.
To maintain his reign of terror, Danbokkolo reportedly relied on repeated doses of pentazocine, a powerful opioid, which fueled his violent tendencies.
The successful elimination of Danbokkolo has further bolstered the morale of troops, who have now intensified their pursuit of Bello Turji and other remnants of terror networks in the region.
The Armed Forces of Nigeria, further reaffirmed its commitment to restoring peace and normalcy in all parts of the country. Citizens are urged to cooperate with security agencies by providing timely and credible information.
