Troops repel Terrorists in North-East, neutralise over 18 in coordinated operations

Troops of Operation HADIN KAI have recorded major operational successes against terrorists in the North-East, neutralising more than 18 insurgents in coordinated dawn and follow-up operations conducted on January 28 and 29, 2026.

In a statement issued by the Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force (North East), Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, troops of Sector 1 carried out a well-planned surprise attack at Bula Dalo in the early hours of January 28. During the operation, over 12 terrorists were neutralised, while several others fled in disarray.

The troops also recovered significant military hardware, including four AK-47 rifles, one PKT anti-aircraft gun, one Rocket Propelled Gun, and one multiple grenade launcher.

In a related operation at the Garno terrorist camp, Sector 1 troops further degraded insurgent capabilities by neutralising six terrorists, destroying their logistical and life-support structures, and recovering a large cache of PKT anti-aircraft ammunition and other items.

Meanwhile, troops of Sector 2 at Sabon Gari were confronted by an ISWAP attack supported by multiple armed drones in the early hours of January 29. Although the attackers briefly breached part of the defensive position, gallant troops swiftly repelled the assault, regained full control, and secured the area with reinforcements from nearby units.

The military, however, confirmed that some soldiers and members of the Civilian Joint Task Force lost their lives during the encounter. An excavator and a lowbed were also damaged in the drone attack.

According to the statement, exploitation and clearance operations are ongoing in the area to deny terrorists freedom of movement and operational space.

The Military High Command commended the troops for their bravery, resilience, and professionalism, urging them to remain vigilant and aggressive in tackling security threats across the region.

Lieutenant Colonel Uba reaffirmed the commitment of Operation HADIN KAI to sustaining pressure on terrorist groups and ensuring lasting peace in the North-East.
