The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, has congratulated Nigeria’s Super Falcons following their historic 10th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) triumph, praising the team’s resilience and describing them as “true ambassadors of Nigerian excellence.”
In a statement signed by Alkasim Abdulkadir, Special Assistant on Media and Communications Strategy to the Honorable Minister, Tuggar commended the players for their determination, discipline, and unity, which he said reflect the core values of the Nigerian nation.
“The Super Falcons have once again shown what it means to represent Nigeria with pride and purpose. Their determination, unity, and consistency reflect the values we hold dear as a nation,” Tuggar said.
The Minister also lauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his unwavering support for sports development in Nigeria. He extended his appreciation to Mr. Shehu Dikko and the leadership of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) for what he described as strategic guidance and commitment to excellence in women’s football.
“This victory is the result of purposeful leadership, sound management, and the unshakable spirit of Nigerian athletes. I congratulate President Tinubu, Mr. Shehu Dikko, and the entire NFF family for creating the enabling environment for this triumph,” he stated.
Ambassador Tuggar emphasized that the Super Falcons’ victory not only brings immense pride to the nation but also serves as a powerful inspiration to young girls across Africa, proving that excellence knows no gender.
He reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to leveraging sports as a tool of soft power and international diplomacy.
“Their victory is not only a sporting achievement but a diplomatic symbol of Nigeria’s strength, unity, and global presence,” he concluded.
The Super Falcons’ WAFCON victory further cemented their legacy as Africa’s most successful women’s football team.
