It was unbelievable to many people especially my close and distance relation, that I enrolled in a fulltime professional school of statistics after my first child.
Serifat Folorunso started her academic pursuit at Federal School of Statistics, Ibadan, Nigeria. Her University education was combined with parenthood responsibility of three children at University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, Nigeria in 2005 where she had her Bsc in Mathematical Sciences (Statistics Option). During her Undergraduate program, she was the first Female President of the College of Natural Sciences (COLNAS). Her successful faculty leadership earned her the confidence of the whole school to vote for her as the Secretary of treasury of the University of Agriculture, Abeokuta Student Union (UNAABSU) in 2007. Serifat had her Master degree in Statistics from University of Ibadan. She is a registered trained teacher who holds a PGD (Education) from Usmanu dan Fodio, University, Nigeria.
Alhamdulilah, Serifat had successfully completed her PhD in Statistics and she is the first Hijabites cum Ummuh that bag PhD in Statistics at Department of Statistics, University of Ibadan.
She had won many National awards and the following International awards among others
i. CFDC grant: award of 38th Annual Conference of the International Society for Clinical Biostatistics – ISCB2017 Vigo, Spain.
ii. Conference of Muslim Organizations of Nigeria (CAMON) Scholarship Beneficiary for PhD Research.
iii. IBS travel grant award for Biometrics by Boarder, New South Wales, Australia, November 26-30, 2017.
iv. 2018 CWS Lee Travel Award Honorable Mention by Caucus for Women in Statistics.
v. 2018 Royal Statistics Society (RSS) Conference Grant for 2018 RSS Conference at Cardiff, Wales, UK, September 3-6, 2018.
vi. 2017 Award of Post – Graduate school International Conference Grant by University of Ibadan Post-Graduate School.
