The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has deployed 2,202 police personnel across the Territory to ensure a peaceful, secure and hitch-free Yuletide and end-of-year celebration.
The Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, CP Miller Gajere Dantawaye, disclosed this in an end-of-year message and security advisory issued on Thursday, December 18, 2025, in which he extended warm festive greetings to residents and visitors of the Federal Capital Territory.
According to the Commissioner, the deployment is in line with the 2025 festive season operational order and reflected the Command’s determination to sustain peace, safety and public order as the Territory prepare to usher in 2026. He explained that police personnel have been strategically positioned at places of worship, recreational and event centres, major highways, motor parks and other public areas across the FCT.
CP Dantawaye noted that the operation is supported by enhanced visibility policing, intelligence-led patrols and constant monitoring of identified black spots, uncompleted buildings and shanties that could be exploited by criminal elements. He said such locations are being closely observed and, where necessary, raided to forestall criminal activities.
The Commissioner added that tactical units, rapid response squads and patrol teams have been fully activated, with intensified vehicular and foot patrols ongoing throughout the Territory. He further disclosed that the Command is working in close collaboration with sister security agencies to ensure coordinated and comprehensive security coverage during the festive period.
He also revealed that Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) units have been deployed to conduct routine sweeps at places of worship and other public gathering points, in compliance with directives from the Inspector-General of Police. General security surveillance, he said, has equally been heightened to promptly detect and neutralise any threat to public safety.
CP Dantawaye reiterated that the use of fireworks, firecrackers, banga, knock-out or any similar explosive devices remained prohibited within the FCT, warning that anyone found in possession or using such items will be arrested and prosecuted in accordance with the law.
The Commissioner urged residents to remain law-abiding and vigilant throughout the festive season and beyond, and to promptly report any suspicious persons, movements or items to the nearest police station or through the FCT Police Command emergency lines: 08032003913 and 08028940883.
He assured residents of the Command’s continued commitment to safeguarding lives and property and wished everyone a peaceful and joyous Yuletide celebration.
