Senator Ogoshi Onawo, who represents Nasarawa South Senatorial District, has formally identified with the Allied People’s Movement (APM) following his defection from the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
A day after announcing his defection on the floor of the Senate during Tuesday’s plenary, Onawo on Wednesday paid a courtesy visit to the APM national headquarters in Abuja, where he was received by the party’s national leadership.
The visit was aimed at formally introducing himself to the party leadership and reaffirming his commitment to the APM ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Addressing party officials, the senator pledged his loyalty to the party and expressed confidence in its prospects, promising to work towards delivering not only Nasarawa South Senatorial District but the entire Nasarawa State for the APM in 2027.
He urged Nigerians to support the party, stressing that a vibrant opposition is essential to the growth and sustainability of democracy.
Welcoming the senator into the party, APM National Chairman, Alhaji Yusuf Mamman Dantalle, described Onawo’s defection as a significant boost to the party’s growing national profile.
Dantalle reaffirmed the party’s commitment to its “Nigeria First” philosophy, assuring Nigerians that the APM would continue to reposition itself as a credible alternative capable of delivering good governance and a better future for the country.
