Female members of the newly inaugurated AMF Executive
In his speech,the newly appointed Amir,Alhaji Abdurrasaq Tunde Ajani commended the 5th Executive members led by Ustadh (Barr.) Luqman J. Ahmad, Chairman and members of the Shura, AMF Board of Trustees for the efforrts towards upholding the vision and noble mission of the forum.
He also lauded the handling over
committee who, in the last few weeks, spared no efforts in ensuring not only his
appointment as the Amir, but carefully selected a vibrant team that made up the new Executive.
In his speech,Alhaji Ajani said “under my humble leadership. The word “Leadership” is coming out of my mouth with fear, worries and doubt because a leader is expected to be a voice for the voiceless in society without fear or favour and treat the rich and the poor alike, but that’s exactly how Allah, SWT wished and willed.
“I am certainly a student of many and there are many of my teachers eminently qualified to lead us in Abuja Muslim Forum, how my name finally came out from the selection by the Shura Committee is best known to Allah and that is His wish.
“My consultations with critical stakeholders consistently gave me assurances that they will stand by me and that it’s an opportunity to serve Islam, I felt confident and decided to take up the challenge.I ask Allah, SWT to aid these teachers and elders to continuously give their usual supportive hands throughout the duration of my service to the Ummah as they used to do.
“Let me, at this juncture, make it clear that the Vision and Mission of Abuja Muslim Forum at its inception is noble and I and my appointed colleagues in the New Executive Council shall humbly continue with the same vision and mission.
However, times are changing, situations are different and circumstances of today are not the same with that of 1991 when this Organisation was set up as first of its kind in Abuja.
“Indeed, Abuja itself is not what it was 32 years ago. We, therefore have to put on our thinking cap, consult widely, strategize very well and come up with ways of approaching Da’awah and Islamic activities for the benefit of the Ummah. As a result of this, we have outlined below activities, but we shall not but limited to the following:
(i) pursue all legal means to get the Rights and Privileges of the Muslim in the FCT and the country at large;
(ii) engage ourselves with halal and fair business ventures to sustain the activities of the forum;
(iii) continuously serve as the umbrella organisation for all member organisations, as equal partners.
(iv) collaborate and synergize with member organisations in the area of Da’wah,establishment of mosques, learning centres and together, face the global challenges encountered by the Muslims especially in the minority areas.
(v) be principled but flexible in terms of collaboration with other faith-based organisation for the purpose of dialogue, religious tolerance and peaceful co-existence.
(vi) humble ourselves to listen, co-operate and assist our leaders in the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, Jama’atul Nasir Islam, Islamic Education Trust, Abuja National Mosque Management, Muslim Students’ Society of Nigeria (National Headquarters) and
many other sister organisations.
“I must at this juncture thank some personalities and organs of the AMF who have over the years remain with the forum, supported it and made it what is today despite the challenges.
(vii) Let me begin with the one we always refer to as the LAST MAN STANDING; Alhaji Mahmud Yayale Ahmed, CFR, Former Director, Former Permanent Secretary, Former Head of Civil Service of the Federation, Former Defense Minister; Former Secretary to the Government of the Federation
