Niger State Governor, Alhaji Abubakar Sani Bello has described the sudden demise of Prof. Samuel Kolo Tswanya as a colossal loss, whose knowledge and wisdom will be greatly missed by Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University, the state and the academia.
The Governor, in a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Malam Jibrin Baba Ndace said the Late Professor left footprints in virtually every area of human endeavour during his life time.
The Governor who described Late Prof. Tswanya as a philanthropist in the educational sector and the state at large said he will be greatly missed by all.
“The passing away of Prof. Samuel Tswanya is a tragedy to the state, the academia and the country. He left at the time we needed him most in reviving the educational sector of the state.
” The Late Professor made his mark and footprints not only in the educational sector but also in the Niger state civil service and his contributions in the academia and the state will not be forgotten “.
Governor Sani Bello prayed God to grant the family and IBB university community the fortitude to bear the loss and grant his soul eternal rest.
Late Prof. Samuel Kolo Tswanya was born in Muwo, Mokwa Local Government of Niger State in 1952.
He served the Niger state Government in different capacities before joining the service of the Federal University of Technology, Minna. He was appointed Commissioner for Information, Art and Culture in 1997. He later transferred his services from FUT, Minna in 2012 to Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University, Lapai. Prof. Tswanya worked hard to set up the current Faculty of Languages and Communication Studies and became the first Dean. Until his demise he was the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) of the university.
He survived by his wife and a daughter.
