The founder of BEN Television, Alistair Soyode, has been conferred with the prestigious Triangle Award in recognition of his pioneering role in Black and Ethnic media, as well as his unwavering commitment to youth and diaspora development.
The award was presented during the 3rd Annual Lecture and Awards Ceremony by Nigeria’s Minister of Interior, Honourable Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, who delivered the keynote and personally handed over the award to Mr. Soyode.
Describing the media trailblazer as “a beacon of tenacity and excellence,” the Minister applauded Soyode’s consistent efforts in projecting Nigeria, Africa, and Black communities in a positive light on the global stage.
“Alistair stands as a role model for our generation,” Honourable Tunji-Ojo stated, highlighting the significant impact of BEN Television in providing opportunities and representation for African and Black voices across Europe and beyond.
During the ceremony, the Minister also used the platform to outline major reforms undertaken by the Ministry of Interior. These include the centralisation of passport services to improve transparency, streamlining of eVisa procedures, and the elimination of unethical service agents to promote public trust and professionalism.
BEN Television, established by Mentoring Cmdt Soyode, holds the distinction of being Europe’s first Black-owned satellite TV station. The channel is currently expanding into African markets and continues to drive initiatives around youth empowerment, inclusive media, and diaspora engagement.
Beyond media, Soyode is also making significant strides in education through the AASGON Indo-Africa Scholarship Scheme. He is currently supporting over 1,000 African students with full tuition and sponsorships across several universities in India through his foundation (www.tecdfoundation.org).
The Triangle Award marks another milestone in Soyode’s illustrious career, reaffirming his influence as a global advocate for inclusion, development, and empowerment.
