He said that the party was having its challenges hence the need for an experienced and credible leader that would carry everyone along.
“I want us to have a stable party with a leader that would bring everyone together”, he said.
Governor Sani Bello described Senator Sheriff as an experienced politician being a former Governor of Borno State and Senator who has the capacity and ability to unite members of the party.
While assuring him of his support, the Governor however urged him to accept the outcome of the election when the time comes.
Earlier, the former Governor of Borno State Sen. Sheriff explained that his visit was in recognition of Governor Sani Bello’s position as a high-ranking member of the party owing to his leadership position at both state and national levels of the party.
He said if he eventually emerged as the chairman, he will unite all members and treat them with respect.
“If I become the chairman, this party will be united.
“A party cannot be a party unless you unite everybody together, you must speak to people, make them understand that everyone is equal in the party” Sheriff stated.
