The Nigerian Navy has alerted members of the public to a fake recruitment advertisement circulating on social media, falsely claiming that a Nigerian Navy Replacement 2025/2026 exercise is ongoing.
In a disclaimer notice issued on Friday, the Navy described the publication as fake, misleading and unauthorized, warning Nigerians not to engage with individuals behind the fraudulent scheme.
According to the statement signed by the Director of Naval Information, Navy Captain Abiodun Folorunsho, the Nigerian Navy does not conduct recruitment or replacement exercises through WhatsApp numbers, personal phone lines or unofficial email addresses.
“The Nigerian Navy wishes to inform the general public that the recruitment advertisement currently circulating on social media claiming a ‘Nigerian Navy Replacement 2025/2026’ exercise and requesting applicants to contact a WhatsApp number or Gmail address is fake, misleading and unauthorized,” the statement said.
The Navy emphasized that all official recruitment announcements are published only through its verified communication channels and official website.
It further urged members of the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious recruitment-related messages or requests for money to the appropriate authorities.
The Navy also cautioned Nigerians against falling victim to fraudsters who exploit job seekers through fake recruitment schemes.
The statement reiterated the commitment of the Nigerian Navy to transparency and due process in its recruitment activities.
