The Klub 98 Initiative has appealed to the Federal Government, Oyo State Government, security agencies, and other stakeholders to intensify efforts towards securing the safe release of schoolchildren and their teacher reportedly abducted in Oyo State and still being held captive.
In a statement issued by the Vice President of the organization, Mrs. Blessing Obodoechie Mozie, the group expressed profound shock and concern over the incident, describing it as a reprehensible act that threatens the safety and well-being of children and educators.
The organization called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, First Lady Oluremi Tinubu, Oyo State First Lady Mrs. Tamunominini Makinde, the Ministry of Women Affairs, and relevant security agencies to treat the matter with utmost urgency and sensitivity.
According to the statement, incidents of school abductions undermine public confidence in the education system and could discourage parents from sending their children to school at a time when efforts are being made to improve access to education across the country.
While expressing support for ongoing security operations, Klub 98 Initiative urged authorities to prioritize the preservation of lives throughout the rescue process. The organization noted that all lawful options, including dialogue and negotiation where deemed appropriate by relevant authorities, should be carefully considered if they can facilitate the safe release of the victims without further endangering lives.
The group stressed that the lives of innocent children and educators must remain paramount, adding that the situation requires decisive action, compassion, and collaboration rather than political considerations or bureaucratic delays.
Klub 98 Initiative also called on Nigerians to support the affected families through prayers and to provide useful information to security agencies that could aid rescue efforts.
Reaffirming its commitment to child welfare, education, and the protection of vulnerable members of society, the organization expressed solidarity with the families of the abducted children and teacher, while joining concerned Nigerians in hoping and praying for their swift and safe return.
The statement concluded with a renewed call for collective efforts to protect children, safeguard the right to education, and build a society where every child can learn and thrive without fear.
