A powerful delegation of the Nupe Development Foundation paid an official visit to the Bida Local Government Area Education Authority and expressed excitement over the adoption of the teaching of Nupe Language in primary schools, going by the approval of the Federal Government, for the teaching of mother tongues in Nigeria.
Speaking with the delegation, the Education Secretary (ES) of Bida Local Government Area Education Authority, Alhaji Yakubu Chado Abdulkadir, assured that the Local Government Area is in full support of the teaching of Nupe Language but also insisted that the Etsu Nupe Committee on the Development of Nupe Language must collaborate with the Education Authority to design the necessary subjects or syllabus needed in the teaching of Nupe to our pupils.
Hajiya Balkisu Ndanusa, who headed the delegation of Nupe Language Development Foundation, appreciated the team of LA for their warmest reception and their dedication towards the commencement of the teaching of Nupe Language in our primary schools.
Adamu Idris Manarakis, the Director of ILLEC, suggested that interested teachers should be given the necessary training for at least five weeks before the resumption of the pupils.
Mr. Timothy added that the Etsu Nupe Committee on NLDF was willing to render their service FREE if the LA is ready to provide a training workshop for the interested teachers.
Also, Alhaji Yahaya, the Foundation’s PRO, read out the old conditions and agreements signed by NSUBEB since 1999 on the approval for Bida Local Government Area to teach Nupe Language at the request of late Etsu Nupe, Umaru Sanda Ndayako, from the book titled; “Nupe Orthography.”
The meeting was attended by five NLDF members and ten Bida LA Principal Officers.
