BREAKING: Buhari directs Ministers, other appointees with political ambition to resign

President Muhammadu Buhari has on Wednesday May 11, 2022 ordered Ministers and other appointees in his cabinet who are interested in becoming President to resign.

The President gave the order shortly after the weekly Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting.

He singled out the Minister of State for Education, Emeka Nwajiuba, for braving the odds to resign honorably to avoid conflict of interest.

A visibly angry President Buhari said he had received the resignation of Nwajiuba seeking to be President.

He said: “I expect other members of this council seeking to be President to resign with immediate effect.”

Briefly after his statement, other Ministers seeking to be Governors, Senators and House of Representatives members were busy trying to seek clarifications if they were affected.

A source in the cabinet said: “We were not clear if this directive will affect other ministers aspiring to be governors, Senators and House of Representatives members.

“We are expecting more clarifications soon,” the source said.
