BREAKING: Gov Makinde presents Staff of Office to Oba Owolabi Olakulehin as 43rd Olubadan

Oba Owolabi Akinloye Olakulehin has been crowned as the 43rd Olubadan of Ibadanland.

 

The coronation ceremony was held on Friday, July 12, at the Labosinde compound, the family whose right is to crown any Olubadan of Ibadanland.

 

Those present at the venue include a former Oyo State Governor and member of the Olubadan-in-Council, Rashidi Ladoja; the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi; the Sultan of Sokoto, Sa’ad Abubakar; former Senate Leader, Teslim Folarin, among others.

 

This crowning came after the governor presented him the staff of office around 2:45 pm on Friday, during a ceremony at the frontage of Mapo Hall in Ibadan.

Makinde, while making the presentation, said, “They said they want to sabotage, they want to sabotage, we are here today at Mapo Hall.

 

Olakulehin succeeded the 42nd Olubadan, Oba Mahood Lekan Balogun who died on 14 March 2024, at the age of 81.

 

Oba Olakulehin, until his nomination and coronation as Olubadan of Ibadanland was the most senior high chief in the Balogun (military) line of Olubadan chieftaincy ascension, the immediate past and 42nd Olubadan occupied the respected throne from the civilian lineage.
