GBB@20: Galaxy Backbone Honours Obasanjo, Reaffirms Commitment to Nigeria’s Digital Future

Galaxy Backbone Limited (GBB) has paid a courtesy visit to former President Olusegun Obasanjo in recognition of his visionary role in establishing the organisation 20 years ago, reaffirmed its commitment to advancing Nigeria’s digital transformation.

The visit, which took place during week, came as part of activities marking GBB’s 20th anniversary and served as a special tribute to the former President, under whose administration the organisation was established.

Led by the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Prof. Ibrahim Adeyanju, the Galaxy Backbone delegation reflected on the organisation’s two-decade journey, highlighting its evolution into a key provider of digital infrastructure and shared technology services for government institutions across Nigeria.

The management also briefed Obasanjo on the progress the organisation has made in driving Nigeria’s digital transformation and introduced the current Executive Management team.

During the meeting, the former President stressed the importance of building enduring institutions, noting that institutions outlive individuals and derive their strength from preserving their founding vision, values and continuity.

Obasanjo reaffirmed Galaxy Backbone’s strategic role in Nigeria’s digital future and encouraged its leadership to remain steadfast in protecting and strengthening the legacy established 20 years ago.

In recognition of his foresight and enduring contribution, Prof. Adeyanju presented the former President with a Founder’s Recognition Award, describing it as a token of appreciation for the vision that continues to shape Nigeria’s digital journey.

Galaxy Backbone said the visit was more than a courtesy call, describing it as an opportunity to honour its founder, reflect on two decades of innovation and national impact, and reaffirm its resolve to build on that legacy.

The organisation pledged to remain focused on connecting government institutions, enabling innovation, empowering public sector organisations and delivering world-class digital infrastructure that support Nigeria’s digital future.
