The Registrar-General/CEO of the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), Hussaini Ishaq Magaji, has inaugurated a nationwide training program for compliance and enforcement officers.
The event, held at the Nigerian Bar Association auditorium in Abuja, is part of the Commission’s efforts to enhance post-incorporation enforcement capabilities.
The training, themed “Re-engineering the Commission for Effective Discharge of Compliance and Enforcement Mandates to Ensure Efficient Management of Corporate Vehicles,” gathered participants from all 36 states. Magaji highlighted the crucial role of state offices in ensuring compliance, described the initiative as a sustainability strategy to bolster corporate governance.
Key areas of focus included managing unregistered businesses, addressing shell companies and opaque ownership structures, and improving the disclosure of persons with significant control, in line with global standards.
Distinguished guests at the event included Harami Madi Wakirwa, Deputy Commander of Narcotics from the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), and Usman Ahmed Imam, Deputy Commissioner of Police from the National Cybercrime and Control Centre. Both delivered goodwill messages, underscoring the importance of collaboration in enforcing compliance.
The training, which is divided into two batches, is scheduled to conclude on Saturday, 25th January 2025, marking a significant step in CAC’s mission to enforce corporate compliance nationwide.
