CDS seeks partnership between DICON and TETFund

The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Musa has made a clarion call for partnership between the Defence Industries Corporation of Nigeria (DICON) and Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund), as President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has signed into law DICON Act for technological development in education and enhancement of the nation’s economy.

General Musa made the call yesterday, when the Executive Secretary of TETFund, Mr Sonny Echono paid a courtesy visit to the Chief of Defence Staff.

The CDS emphasised the relevance of education to human capacity development, pointing out that without education, most people would not have being in various important positions they found themselves today.

Speaking further, he stated that education is pivotal to efficient service delivery in the Armed Forces and appreciated numerous interventions in military institutions by the TETFund. He assured that the Armed Forces will continue its unwavering support to educational developments in Nigeria.

 

Earlier, while making his remarks, the Executive Secretary of TETFund gave credit to the Armed Forces of Nigeria under the leadership of the CDS for its selfless services to the nation, explaining that the Armed Forces of Nigeria has always being supportive to education establishments in Nigeria. The TETFund boss also gave kudos to the Armed Forces for providing enabling environment for education to thrive, despite the challenges posed by insecurity in the country. He also expressed the willingness of TETFund to partner with the military and education establishments, especially in the areas of research, innovation and technological developments.

Mr Echono divulged that his organization will partner with DICON and other sectors of the economy to achieve national aspirations.

He further eulogised the Armed Forces of Nigeria for being vanguard of innovations that bring about solutions to critical national issues.

While commending the CDS for the relative peace witnessed in the country so far, he pledged that TETFund will sustain its supportive responsibility towards military institutions.
