Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have arrested three suspected vote buyers in different parts of Anambra State during the governorship election held on Saturday, November 8, 2025.
The suspects — Emeka Ilokasia, Nwachukwu Loretta, and Emuka Chuwudi were apprehended by EFCC operatives deployed for election monitoring across the state.
According to the Commission, Ilokasia was arrested at Ward 2, Njikoka Local Government Area; Loretta at Ward 2 (008), Awkuzu, Oyi Local Government Area; and Chuwudi at Umunachi Village, Dunukofia Local Government Area.
The anti-graft agency stated that the arrests were made in connection with ongoing efforts to curb electoral corruption and ensure free, fair, and credible polls.
“All the suspects were apprehended while engaging in vote-buying activities and will be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded,”the EFCC said in a statement.
The Commission reaffirmed its commitment to upholding electoral integrity and warned that it would not hesitate to bring anyone involved in electoral malpractice to justice.
