Emotan Shine asks IGP to halt incessant raid, arrest of her staff

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Emotan Global Ventures Ltd, Madam Emotan Shine has urged the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Usman Alkali Baba, to halt the incessant raid and arrest of her staff in Abuja.
Addressing a press conference in Abuja yesterday, Mrs Shine said officers of the Nigeria Police Force was positioned by the constitution to uphold the law and hence should not be the ones openly breaking it without any form of regard.
She said that officers who invaded her office on Friday 28 January 2022, also cart away with two of her employees are still in police custody without charge or any indication of any crime.
Speaking further,she said there were no justifiably reasons for the act, added that the firm was set to protest against the harassment at the Force Headquarters Abuja.
“I wish to draw the attention of the IGP to the alleged invasion of our office on Friday 28 January 2022 by men of the Nigerian Police Force (NPF).
“While they invaded our office in a gestapo manner, we are demanding an investigation of the storming of our office by operatives of the NPF without prior notice by the operatives.
“We are tired of this hostility against us while doing our legitimate duties.”She said.
The CEO noted that policing should not be about harassment and extortion but building trust among the people and making them comfortable.
She also noted that the officers refused to cooperate with its legal team, insisting they will only speak with her.
“It will also be recalled that in September 2020 they invaded our office.
“Once again, it bears repeating that this is democracy and a nation under law, not a dictatorship or banana republic,” she added.
