Former Kogi Governor, Alhaji Ibrahim Idris has lauded the professional conducts , monitoring, enforcement to ensure the social security and wellbeing of average Nigerians is guaranteed in the face of growing health challenges across the country, by the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria PSN.
He made this remark to mark this year’s two day ‘2022 MID YEAR MEETING’ and dinner/award night held at NAF Conference Centre, Kado Abuja on Wednesday.
The former Kogi Governor urged the Board of Fellows’ Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria not to relent in it’s efforts to rid Nigeria of unprofessional conducts, abuse and dispensation of fake and adulterated drugs by unqualified medical personnel.
He enjoined the highly revered professional organization to sustain both the professional and social approach adopted to contain the global pandemic of COVID-19 among many other prevalent diseases.
“The body, no doubt over the decades had contributed to the development of Nigeria and in recent times redoubled efforts especially in the area of monitoring and professional enforcement and administration of drugs across the country.”
Idris who was honored with an award at the occasion, says the giant strides by the Board of fellows of pharmaceutical society of Nigeria PSN has not only nurtured and brought control into it’s activities, but it’s contributions to national development is unquantifiable
“The giant strides of the board fellow of professionals among many others to the overall development of Nigeria cannot be overemphasised, particularly at this critical time countries had gone through various stages of COVID-19 and post COVID era across nations.”
“It is my desire that the fellows should continue in this trend as well as playing a major advisory roles both to the government, the private sector and people of Nigeria to ensure a healthy nation.”
He expressed worries on the consistent abuse of the rules and regulations, while urging the body to redoubled more efforts towards eradicating such anomaly in view of it’s dire consequences on hapless Nigerians, particularly in the rural areas .
“There is no doubt that focus and attention should be extended to the rural communities where alot of misinformation about drug administration for various aliments is at alarming rates.”he added.
