The FCT NUJ Correspondents’ Chapel has congratulated Comrade Grace Ike on her historic election as the first female Chairman of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), FCT Council.
In a statement signed by the Secretary, Raphael Oni, and Assistant Secretary, Ediri Oyibo, the Chapel described Comrade Ike’s emergence as a landmark achievement for the union and a victory for women in leadership.
Comrade Ike, a veteran journalist with over 16 years of experience, has previously served as the Chairperson of the House of Representatives Press Corps and Vice Chair of the NUJ FCT Correspondents Chapel. Her track record of commitment to journalists’ welfare and professional development has earned her wide admiration among her peers.
In her new role, Comrade Ike has pledged to empower journalists, address pressing welfare challenges, and invest in modern capacity-building initiatives. Her vision for a more dynamic and inclusive NUJ FCT Council has resonated strongly with journalists across the region.
The FCT Correspondents Chapel expressed confidence in her ability to lead the council to greater heights, emphasizing their readiness to support her administration in promoting the interests of journalists.
