The Executive Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), Zacch Adedeji, on Wednesday hosted the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, at the FIRS Headquarters in Abuja.
In his remarks, General Musa stressed the vital connection between sustainable funding and national security, commending FIRS for its consistent role in enabling the Armed Forces to perform their duties effectively. He announced that Nigeria will host the maiden African Chiefs of Defence Staff Conference in Abuja from 25 to 27 August 2025 a landmark gathering aimed at demonstrating Africa’s capacity to shape its own defence agenda without external influence.
According to Dr. Adedeji, peace is the foundation of prosperity, and the Armed Forces remain pivotal in safeguarding it. He cited the recent attainment of Nigeria’s oil and gas revenue target as an example of the benefits of stability in key production areas. The FIRS Chairman also reiterated President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to military welfare, highlighted by the recent approval for 1,550 housing units for personnel.
He assured the Armed Forces of the Service’s unwavering support towards the successful hosting of the African Chiefs of Defence Staff Conference.
