The Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Shehu Mohammed, has personally spearheaded an emergency traffic operation that restored free movement along the Abuja–Kaduna Expressway following a severe obstruction at the Azara Bridge, Jere axis.
The disruption occurred during ongoing road construction works when an articulated vehicle carrying a crane broke down at a narrow diversion point, resulting in a rapid build-up of traffic that stretched several kilometres and left commuters stranded for hours.
Responding promptly to the situation, the Corps Marshal arrived at the scene and assumed direct command of operations, coordinating a joint response involving FRSC personnel from the Kaduna and FCT Sector Commands, the Nigerian Army, and road construction officials.
Under his supervision, emergency teams executed a coordinated evacuation of the disabled vehicle and cleared the obstruction, restoring normal traffic flow within a short period.
Eyewitnesses at the scene described the operation as well-coordinated and efficient, noting that the Corps Marshal’s physical presence helped streamline decision-making and improve inter-agency coordination during the exercise.
The successful intervention prevented further congestion, reduced the risk of secondary crashes, and averted wider economic disruption along the strategic highway corridor.
The FRSC reiterated its commitment to rapid response operations, strengthened collaboration with security agencies, and sustained efforts to ensure safer and smoother road transportation nationwide.
