The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has recorded a major breakthrough in the fight against vehicle theft, recovered 73 stolen vehicles in 2024 through the National Vehicle Identification Scheme (NVIS) portal.
This milestone, achieved through intelligence-driven operations in collaboration with other security agencies, underscored the FRSC’s commitment to enhancing national security and safeguarding road users across the country.
According to a statement by the Corps Public Education Officer, Olusegun Ogungbemide, the recovered vehicles included 21 Toyota Corolla, 17 Toyota Camry, six Lexus 350, four Toyota Highlander, six Toyota Sienna, and several other brands, including motorcycles and a truck.
The Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed, commended FRSC personnel for their professionalism and dedication, stressed that the agency remained committed to ridding the nation of criminal elements exploiting vehicle registration loopholes. He urged vehicle owners to provide accurate details during registration, as this aid intelligence gathering and swift vehicle recovery.
“The FRSC will not relent in ensuring Nigerian roads remain safe and secure. We urge the public to support our efforts in curbing vehicle-related crimes,” he added.
The NVIS portal has proven to be a vital tool in tracking stolen vehicles, reinforcing the FRSC’s role in both traffic safety and crime prevention.
