Niger State Governor, Abubakar Sani Bello has charged leaders to evolve pragmatic ways to enshrine a process of leadership that is targeted towards the interest of the majority of people.
Governor Sani Bello gave the charge at the sensitization programme for stakeholders in the North Central Zone with the theme: “promoting peace and national development through equitable distribution of socio-economic amenities and infrastructural facilities nationwide” organized by the Federal Character Commission held at the Conference Hall of Nicon Luxury, Abuja.
The Governor who was represented by Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Ahmed Ibrahim Matane stressed that the only path to progressive governance in democracy is good leadership.
He further explained that leaders can only succeed by pursuing policies and programmes designed to promote equitable access to priority amenities such as education, heath, education, agriculture and basic infrastructure among several others.
Governor Sani Bello stated that governance process must continue to concentrate on the provision of selfless, accountable, transparent and God-fearing leadership in a manner that puts the people first in everything.
The Governor urged participants and other stakeholders on the need to be alive to their responsibilities in ensuring that the people are always taken along in critical decisions especially as it involves the provision of facilities to benefitting communities.
He then commended the Federal Character Commission for triggering discussions on equitable distribution of amenities as a way of encouraging peace and development in the communities.
Earlier in her welcome remarks, the Executive Chairman, Federal Character Commission, Dr. Muheeba Dankaka disclosed that the programme is aimed at sensitizing stakeholders of the Commission on the importance of national unity and integration.
