Gov Sani-Bello To Implement Resolutions of APC Governors forum

Niger State Governor, Abubakar Sani Bello said he was studying the ideas shared at the 3rd Progressives Governors Forum meeting with a view to implementing them.

Governor Sani-Bello disclosed this in an interview, shortly after the meeting of the Forum at the Plateau State Government House, Rayfield, Jos.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) Governors met in Jos under the aegis of Progressives Governors Forum (PGF) to parley with the Federal Government on policy synergy in its bid to strengthen the public service delivery in the country.

Governor Sani Bello stated that due to the vast landmass of Niger State, he will look at the possibility of monitoring the activities of the teachers in the state through the use of technology noted

He explained futher that the landmass of the state was making physical monitoring difficult, as such the use of technology may not be ruled out by his administration to achieve the desired results.

He said his government was equally planning to bring schools closer to communities to boost girl-child enrollment across the State.

The Governor however said he was talking to both national and foreign development partners with a view to building schools close and accessible to the communities,

Stated that the state government has been proactive in the payment of all its counterpart funds particularly in the area of education and assured that his administration will not relent.

On health, the Governor said his administration will continue to accord priority to the Primary Healthcare so as to reduce pressure on the Secondary Healthcare facilities.

In his keynote address, President Muhammadu Buhari, represented by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Mr. Boss Mustapha applauded the contributions of the Progressives Governors stressing that such interface would engender collective aspirations and shared vision in the socio-economic, cultural and political development of the country.

President Buhari while assuring of his administration’s commitment towards the improvement of welfare of the citizens, also called on the state governments to redouble their efforts in the fight against corruption in order to eradicate the social menace that has continued to thwart the country’s progress and development.

He enjoined all the states that attended the parley to make the best use of what was learnt to further advance the course of good governance and service delivery to the people.

In his remarks, the host Governor, Mr. Simon Bako Lalong of Plateau State, who is also the Chairman, Northern Governors Forum said the aim of the Parley was to ensure that the Governors come together to synergize, explore and collaborate with each other to chat a way of strengthening public service delivery to citizens so as to enable the people feel the impact of the governance.

The Plateau State Governor explained that the Progressives Governors remain committed to providing accountable and responsive leadership to the people, adding that despite the challenges faced by the country, the APC administration at all levels has recorded tremendous achievements in different sectors.

He, however, maintained that, “as Governors saddled with the responsibility of moving their states forward, they have no option but to constantly engage one another” in order to allow the people feel a sense of belonging.
