A political support group, the Kogi Alliance for Renewed Hope (KARH), has faulted comments made by the Senator representing Kogi West, Sunday Steve Karimi, over his reaction to the recent endorsement rally for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu held in Lokoja.
In a statement issued on Monday and signed by Toba Ogundele and Idris Abubakar, the group’s President and Secretary respectively, KARH described Senator Karimi’s remarks as “disrespectful, misleading, and disconnected from the realities on the ground in Kogi State.”
The group insisted that the people of Kogi remain resolutely committed to supporting President Tinubu’s leadership and re-election bid in 2027, stressing that the endorsement rally was a genuine expression of public confidence rather than a politically orchestrated event.
“The people of Kogi State do not need to be coerced to support President Tinubu they are already convinced by his actions and performance,” the group stated. “From infrastructural projects to the appointment of deserving Kogi indigenes, the President has demonstrated inclusion, fairness, and competence that speak louder than any campaign slogan.”
KARH maintained that the endorsement rally, which drew massive attendance from grassroots party members, traditional rulers, and community leaders, was a spontaneous show of appreciation and solidarity.
“It is disappointing that a senator who benefited from the goodwill of these same people would dismiss their enthusiasm as coercion,” the statement continued. “President Tinubu’s policies have boosted federal allocations, improved rural infrastructure, and created opportunities for small businesses in Kogi and across the country. These are measurable results, not political rhetoric.”
The group emphasised that the people of Kogi are politically aware and capable of distinguishing genuine progress from empty criticism, adding that Senator Karimi’s comments only reveal his disconnection from the electorate.
“From Lokoja to Okene, Kabba to Ankpa, the message is clear Kogi stands firmly behind President Tinubu because they have seen tangible results and credible leadership,” KARH said.
The forum urged political leaders in the state to set aside personal differences and unite in sustaining Kogi’s position as a stronghold of the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 elections.
“President Tinubu has demonstrated exceptional commitment to the development of Kogi through infrastructural renewal, youth empowerment, and inclusive governance,” the group noted. “The people of this state will willingly and proudly support him again in 2027 because his record speaks for itself.”
