Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has been declared winner of the 2026 Ekiti State governorship election after recording a commanding victory at the polls.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announced that Oyebanji polled 319,224 votes to defeat his closest rival, Wole Oluyede of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who garnered 40,543 votes.
The candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Dare Bejide, finished third with 12,872 votes.
Declaring the result, the Returning Officer, Adenike Oladiji, said Oyebanji met all constitutional requirements and secured the highest number of lawful votes cast.
“That Biodun Oyebanji of the All Progressives Congress, having satisfied the requirements of the law and scored the highest number of votes, is hereby declared the winner and returned elected,” Oladiji announced.
The final results released by INEC showed a dominant performance by the APC candidate across the state, as he defeated candidates of the PDP and ADC by a wide margin to secure another term in office.
The outcome underscored the APC’s continued political dominance in Ekiti State, with Oyebanji’s overwhelming victory reflecting strong voter support for his administration and the ruling party in the state.
