JUST IN: Niger records two more cases of COVID19 virus … as Limawa index case now negative

Two more positive cases of the Coronavirus (Covid-19) have been reported, again, in Niger State, bringing the total number of confirmed cases in the state to Eight.

The Commissioner for Health, Dr. Muhammad Makusidi, who disclosed this while giving an update and situational report on the Virus in the state, said one of the new cases was the husband of the only woman at the isolation center from Suleja and a returnee from Kano.

Dr. Makusidi stated that a second new case was also a man already at the quarantine center from Zumba, and also a returnee from Kano.

He, however, revealed that the Limawa index case is now negative and awaiting second negative test confirmation before been declared cured.

The Commissioner also disclosed that all the Almajiris, including their Mallams, have been confirmed negative and ready for discharge accordingly.

Meanwhile, two returnees had been received in the hospital’s holding area. One from Lagos and the other from Ibadan; both with relevant symptoms but clinically stable.

The Commissioner said samples hae been taken and the DSNO, state epidemiologist, and DSS have been duly notified added that appropriate PPEs were adequately available and in use.
