The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested Shodunke Yetunde Simbiat, a key female leader of a notorious cocaine trafficking syndicate, recovering 23.50 kilograms of the drug concealed in her children’s room in Surulere, Lagos. The consignment is valued at over N5 billion on the streets.
Simbiat had been on the run since May 2024, following the arrest of cartel leaders Bolanle Lookman Dauda and Olayinka Toheebat Dauda, who were nabbed with 57.5 kilograms of cocaine in Lagos and Ogun State. NDLEA operatives continued surveillance, ultimately leading to her capture.
In separate operations, NDLEA officers intercepted 1,020 tramadol and tapentadol pills at Murtala Muhammed International Airport from a businessman bound for Italy. At the Seme border, a Beninoise national was arrested with 3,400 tramadol tablets, while other raids across Oyo, Osun, Kogi, and Kaduna states resulted in multiple arrests and seizures of cannabis, tramadol capsules, and pentazocine injections.
Chairman of NDLEA, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd), praised the operatives for their professionalism and urged heightened vigilance during the festive season to sustain the fight against drug trafficking nationwide.
