The Commissioner of Police, Niger State Command, CP Adamu Abdullahi Elleman, has assured the Niger State Independent Electoral Commission (NSIEC) of the Command’s readiness to provide adequate security before, during, and after the forthcoming Local Government elections scheduled for 1st November 2025.

CP Elleman gave the assurance on Wednesday, 28th May 2025, when he received the NSIEC Chairman, Engr. Mohammed Jubril Imam, and his delegation on a courtesy visit to the State Police Headquarters, Dutsen-Kura, Minna.

Engr. Imam, while appreciating the warm reception by the Commissioner of Police, stated that the visit was to formally brief the Command on the Commission’s mandate and to seek collaboration for a peaceful and credible electoral process across the over 500 polling units in the state.

He emphasized the crucial role of the Police in election security management, adding that political campaigns for the elections commenced on 27th May and would run through 31st October 2025. He also mentioned that the final list of candidates was unveiled on 26th May 2025.

In response, CP Elleman reaffirmed the commitment of the Police, in collaboration with other security agencies, to ensuring a violence-free and transparent election. He emphasized that the Nigeria Police would remain neutral and professional while providing a secure and enabling environment for all stakeholders.

“The Command is committed to supporting NSIEC in the discharge of its duties and will not tolerate any act capable of undermining the electoral process,” the CP stated.
