Operatives of the Niger State Police Command have recovered a stolen Toyota Corolla vehicle in Suleja following a swift response and high-speed pursuit along Dikko Road.
The recovery, which took place on Wednesday, May 15, 2025, was in response to a report received at about 8:15 p.m. that a black Toyota Corolla with registration number EKY 80 DZ had been stolen around the Midwifery School in Tunga, Minna. The Command immediately circulated the information to all divisions across the state.
Later that night, at about 10:00 p.m., a police patrol team attached to the Maje Division, while conducting routine stop-and-search operations along the Kwamba-Maje Road, intercepted a suspicious vehicle matching the description. The car, which had a different number plate (BDG 271 AT) on the front and no plate at the rear, was occupied by two individuals heading toward Dikko Road.
According to police sources, the suspects, upon noticing the patrol team, attempted to evade arrest by speeding off but crashed into a tricycle ahead. The suspects abandoned the vehicle and fled the scene, leaving behind several exhibits.
The Divisional Police Officer (DPO) and his team recovered the vehicle, which has since been identified by the rightful owner as the one stolen in Minna. Investigation is ongoing, and the police are analyzing evidence to apprehend the fleeing suspects.
Commissioner of Police, Niger State Command, CP Adamu Abdullahi Elleman, commended the swift action of the officers involved. He urged residents to remain security-conscious and report suspicious activities to security agencies for timely intervention.
The Police Public Relations Officer, SP W.A. Abiodun, confirmed the development and assured the public that efforts are being intensified to arrest the culprits and bring them to justice.
