The Niger State Police Command has rescued three more children and arrested three additional suspects in connection with an ongoing investigation into a major child-trafficking network linked to Mrs. Victoria Ebunoha Chukwumezie, earlier apprehended at Dikko Junction on November 5, 2025.
The latest arrests were carried out by operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit on November 28 across locations in Nasarawa and Abuja. Those taken into custody include Chioma Onyanja of Nyanya, Abuja; Joy Ndife of Kurudu, Abuja; and Pastor Olusegun Isaiah Anjorin of Orozo, Abuja. All three were found in possession of children believed to have been taken from Gajere, Tafa, in September 2025.
The rescued children—five-month-old Saifullahi Abdulmumini, four-year-old Possible Danlami, and one-and-a-half-year-old Safiya Mamman Sani were recovered unhurt and have since been reunited with their parents. The Command said the children were traced to the homes of the suspects, each of whom claimed to have acquired the minors through various channels, including illegal adoption arrangements facilitated by the prime suspect.
With these recoveries, the total number of children rescued so far has risen to nine, while eleven suspects are currently in police custody as investigations continue.
The Command also announced the arrest of two suspected dealers of adulterated petroleum products in Suleja. The suspects were picked up on November 19 following a complaint by legitimate fuel marketers over the circulation of substandard products.
One of the suspects, Emekomah Prosper of Kaduna Road, Suleja, confessed to purchasing a chemical substance known as naphtha in large volumes from suppliers in Owerri, Warri, and Ore. He admitted to selling the product to fuel vendors, who mixed it with petrol and distributed it as Premium Motor Spirit (PMS). The second suspect, Alhassan Abubakar, confirmed that he bought 45,000 litres of the substance for onward resale after mixing it with fuel.
Both suspects are in custody as the Command intensified efforts to identify other dealers and distributors involved.
Meanwhile, the Police have arrested 23 suspects across different parts of Minna following renewed clashes among rival miscreants in neighbourhoods such as Abdulsalam Quarters, Angwan-Kaje, Maitumbi, and Sabon-Titi Tunga.
On November 29 and 30, police operatives broke up violent confrontations in Sabon-Titi, leading to the arrest of 13 suspects found with knives, cutlasses, and other weapons. The Command also confirmed the death of a 21-year-old man, Bello Mohammed, identified as one of the miscreants involved in the clashes.
Additional arrests were made in separate operations, including the interception of two robbery suspects in a tricycle along the Western Bypass, and the arrest of three young men found with military camouflage and a sharp knife during a raid at Abdulsalam Quarters. Four others were also apprehended at Alagbado area after a fight at the Mobil axis on November 12.
Police spokesperson SP Wasiu Abiodun said all suspects are undergoing investigation, adding that the Command remains committed to restoring peace and protecting communities across the state.
