The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has emerged as a beacon of professional excellence, clinching multiple awards at the 2025 Nigeria Public Relations Week (NPRW) hosted by the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.
At the high-profile event, the NCS received the Excellence in Professional Compliance Award – Corporate Category, a recognition of its unwavering adherence to communication ethics, transparency, and public accountability under the dynamic leadership of the Comptroller-General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi.
In a notable highlight of the ceremony, the NIPR Governing Council bestowed two prestigious individual honours on CGC Adeniyi: the Diamond Lifetime Award for his enduring contributions to public relations and humanity, and the Diamond Prize for Exceptional Performance in Public Office, acknowledging his transformative leadership and communication-driven reforms in the Customs Service.
Receiving the awards on behalf of the CGC and the Service, the National Public Relations Officer, Assistant Comptroller Abdullahi Maiwada, expressed heartfelt appreciation to the institute.
“These recognitions are a testament to the CGC’s commitment to institutional transparency and public engagement,They also reflect the dedication of the Service in ensuring that professionalism, credibility, and effective communication remain central to our operations.”Maiwada said.
Under CGC Adeniyi’s administration, the NCS has pioneered forward-thinking communication strategies, enhancing stakeholder trust, operational transparency, and its overall image both nationally and globally.
The NIPR, in its citation, hailed CGC Adeniyi as a visionary reformer who has raised the bar for communication in public service. The Customs Service was equally praised for setting a national benchmark in corporate compliance and public relations excellence.
Further solidifying its commitment to professional development, ten Area Command Public Relations Officers of the NCS were also inducted as Associate Members of the NIPR after completing a masterclass.
The 2025 NPRW, themed around strengthening institutional communication and public trust, drew participants from across the country’s public and private sectors, further spotlighting the pivotal role of strategic communication in national development.
