The President of the Naval Officers’ Wives Association (NOWA), Aisha Idi Abbas, has commissioned a block of four classrooms and a renovated music laboratory at Navy Town, Ojo, aimed at improving educational standards for children of naval personnel.
The commissioning ceremony, held on Friday, February 13, 2026, formed part of welfare and education-focused interventions designed to enhance learning conditions within naval communities. The initiative is expected to provide a more conducive academic environment, particularly for students affected by frequent relocations associated with military postings.
Mrs. Abbas said the project reflects NOWA’s continued commitment to supporting families of personnel of the Nigerian Navy through educational development and improved welfare programmes. She noted that the effort also aligns with the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda on education.
She expressed appreciation to the Chief of the Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Idi Abbas, principal staff officers at Naval Headquarters, and the Parents-Teachers Association for their support toward the successful execution of the project.
In his remarks, the Commandant of NOWA Secondary School, Commander Baba Magwi, described the intervention as timely and impactful. He assured stakeholders that the newly commissioned facilities would be properly utilized to advance academic excellence and support the broader vision of naval leadership.
The upgraded facilities at Navy Town Ojo in Lagos are expected to strengthen learning outcomes while reinforcing the Navy’s broader commitment to personnel welfare through community-based development initiatives.
