The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has reaffirmed its commitment to combating cybercrime and promoting online safety through strategic collaboration with global technology giant, Meta.
This was demonstrated through the active participation of the Nigeria Police Force National Cybercrime Centre (NPF-NCCC) in the Meta Two-Day Summit on Online Safety, themed “The Future of Online Safety: Combating Evolving Threats,” held recently in Abuja.
The summit brought together law enforcement agencies, policymakers, and technology partners to explore new strategies for tackling the growing complexity of cyber threats and digital crimes.
In a statement, the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, said officers of the NPF-NCCC gained valuable insights into the structure of digital criminal enterprises, cross-border online fraud, and intelligence-led investigation techniques, as well as digital forensics and Open-Source Intelligence (OSINT) tools for dismantling organized cybercrime networks.
Hundeyin noted that the sessions enhanced inter-agency collaboration and underscored the importance of partnerships between the Police, technology companies, and civil society in promoting digital trust and responsible online behavior.
Meanwhile, the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, reaffirmed the Force’s commitment to sustained partnership with Meta and other global stakeholders in curbing cross-border cyber threats.
He emphasized that such collaborations are central to advancing the Force’s vision of technology-driven and intelligence-led policing in Nigeria.
