A group under the aegis of Goodluckans Diaspora (GD) has called for a new direction in Nigeria’s leadership ahead of the 2027 general elections, insisting that citizens deserved a government capable of delivering stability, economic growth, and national unity.
Speaking at a media briefing in Abuja on Thursday, the group’s Global Coordinator, Queen Moses Idris, said the movement is part of a broader effort to promote national renewal and constructive civic engagement.
She described GD as a global network of Nigerians across North America, Europe, Africa, and the Middle East, committed to advocating development, unity, and democratic progress through collective action.
According to her, the group is also seeking to engage former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, urged him to consider contesting the 2027 presidential election.
Idris emphasized that the initiative is driven by a shared desire for leadership that can restore peace, foster unity across religious and ethnic divides, and steer the country out of its current socio-economic challenges.
“This is not a protest. This is a call for leadership,” she said, adding that the movement is anchored on dialogue, national interest, and collective progress.
She noted that participants in the Abuja gathering were encouraged to conduct themselves peacefully and lawfully, reflecting the group’s commitment to dignity and respect in its advocacy.
The coordinator further stated that Nigerians at home and in the diaspora are ready to support a leadership vision that promotes unity, strengthens democratic institutions, and delivers economic stability.
Idris concluded by appealing to Jonathan to reflect on Nigeria’s current realities and consider offering himself for leadership once again, citing his experience and commitment to democratic values as key reasons behind the call.
