The National Sports Commission (NSC) has expressed deep appreciation to the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) for its crucial support in securing the hosting rights for the CAVB 2025 Women’s African Club Volleyball Championship, set to take place in Abuja from April 1 to 14, 2025.
In a letter of appreciation dated March 17, 2025, and personally signed by the Director-General (DG) of NSC, Honourable Bukola Olopade, the Commission acknowledged the pivotal role played by the Comptroller-General of Customs (CGC), Adewale Adeniyi, in facilitating Nigeria’s successful bid. The Customs Service covered the bidding fees, a gesture that the DG described as a testament to its commitment to sports development in the country.
“At a time when sports development in Nigeria requires critical support, this proactive intervention has made a significant impact. The dedication of resources and efforts to ensure that the prestigious championship is held in Nigeria is a rare demonstration of service and commitment to national sports development,” Olopade stated.
He further emphasized that securing the hosting rights would enhance Nigeria’s reputation in African sports, attracting elite volleyball clubs from across the continent and strengthening the country’s position as a major force in volleyball.
The NSC also reaffirmed its commitment to collaborating with key stakeholders in shaping sustainable sports development strategies that align with global best practices.
While extending sporting regards to the CGC, the DG reiterated the Commission’s pride in being associated with the Nigeria Customs Service and other partners working towards advancing Nigerian sports on the international stage.
