The Secretary of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), FCT Council, Comrade Jide Oyekunle, has lost his father, Elder Samuel Ayanlola Oyekunle.
Elder Oyekunle passed away in the early hours of Thursday, March 20, 2025, in Ibadan after a brief illness. He was 76 years old and hailed from Ilua Community, Okeho Local Government Area of Oyo State.
A respected community leader, Elder Oyekunle was the former Chairman of the Nigeria Professional Photographers Association (NPPA), Oyo State, Iseyin Branch. He was widely known for his dedication to the growth of his community, his profession, and humanity at large.
The NUJ FCT Council, in a statement signed by its Chairman, Grace Ike, expressed deep condolences to Comrade Jide Oyekunle and his family, recognized the significant impact of the loss. The union encouraged the bereaved to find comfort in cherished memories of his father’s impactful life and assured him of their unwavering support.
Elder Oyekunle is survived by his wife, children, and grandchildren. Funeral arrangements will be announced by the family in due course.
