The Management of National Youth Service Corps NYSC has alerted members of the public on pictures of a lady in the scheme uniform and that of a sick woman claiming to be a serving corp member, admitted in a Lagos hospital, which has gone viral on social media platforms.
The scheme in a release signed by Eddy Megwa, Director Press and Public Relations urged members of the public to disregard the pictures, as the lady in NYSC uniform and alleged sick woman soliciting for financial support from the public were not serving corps members and also not on admission in any hospital.
The statement read in full;
“The attention of NYSC Management has been drawn to the pictures of a lady in NYSC uniform, as well as that of a sick woman purporting to be a serving Corps Member on admission at Gbagada General Hospital, soliciting for financial assistance to the tune of Two Million Naira, ( N2,000,000.00 ).
“NYSC has gone to the said hospital for investigation, combed the whole wards and there is no record of such person at the hospital.
“Management hereby alerts the general public to be wary of falling prey to the antics of fraudsters.
“The welfare of Corps Members remains a cardinal policy thrust of the Scheme, and all Corps Members have been enrolled in the National Health Insurance Scheme.
“Consequently, the general public is hereby strongly advised to disregard the fraudulent posts”.
