The Association of Corporate Online Editors (ACOE) has elected its first substantive executive council, with Mr. Omosola Akingboye emerging as Chairman. The election was held on Thursday, May 30, 2025, at the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) FCT Council Secretariat in Abuja.
The newly elected executives, who will serve a three-year tenure, were elected in the presence of Ms. Joy Idam, a representative of the NUJ FCT Council, who supervised the electoral process.
In her remarks, Ms. Idam congratulated the new officers and commended the association for ensuring a peaceful and transparent electoral process. She also charged the new leadership to foster unity, inclusiveness, and uphold the ethics of the journalism profession.
Those elected to steer the affairs of ACOE included:
Chairman – Omosola Akingboye
Vice Chairman – Khadijat Ameen
General Secretary – Queen Kunde
Assistant Secretary – Peace Ofeoshi
Treasurer – Lady Joy Odor
Financial Secretary – Augustine Ehikioya
Welfare Officer – Chidiebere Ugwu
Public Relations Officer – Gbemiga Olamikan
Provost – Moses Akwashiki
Ms. Idam also applauded the gender balance in the new executive council, noted that women occupied several strategic positions, which reflected ACOE’s commitment to inclusion and diversity.
In his acceptance speech, the newly elected Chairman,Mr. Akingboye expressed gratitude to members for the trust reposed in him and other elected officials. He assured that the new leadership would work collectively to reposition the association and raise the standard of corporate online journalism in Nigeria.
“The election was conducted in a free and fair atmosphere, and we see this as a fresh opportunity to move ACOE forward. We call on partners and stakeholders to support our vision as we begin a new chapter,” Akingboye stated.
The event marked a significant milestone in the growth and institutionalization of ACOE as a credible professional body for editors in the digital media space.
