The Nigeria Police Force has recorded fresh operational successes across Kano, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Ekiti and Ogun States, leading to the arrest of 66 suspects and the recovery of illicit drugs, a firearm, ammunition and other exhibits.
The Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Ani Iniedu, disclosed this in the State-by-State Executive Summary of police operational successes for Thursday, August 13, 2026.
In Kano State, 11 suspected drug peddlers were arrested on August 11 following intelligence-driven surveillance operations in Sabon Gari. A search of the suspects led to the recovery of 60 capsules of Pregabalin, five tablets of Diazepam, 10 tablets of Extol and a large quantity of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp.
The suspects and exhibits have been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Bompai, for investigation.
In the FCT, police operatives from various divisions arrested 52 suspects during coordinated raids on black spots, criminal hotspots and uncompleted buildings on August 12.
Quantities of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp, illicit drugs and knives were recovered during the operations. The respective Divisional Commands are investigating the cases.
Similarly, in Ekiti State, two suspects were arrested during a stop-and-search operation along University Road, Iyin-Ekiti.
The suspects were intercepted while conveying themselves on an unregistered motorcycle. Police recovered one live cartridge and suspected illicit drugs from them.
Subsequent searches of their residences led to the recovery of a single-barrel gun. The suspects are currently being investigated by the SCID, Ado-Ekiti.
In Ogun State, police operatives arrested a suspect over the alleged defilement of a 17-year-old girl at Warewa.
The victim was rescued and taken to a hospital for medical attention, while the suspect was transferred to the SCID, Eleweran, for investigation.
The Force said the operations demonstrate its continued efforts to disrupt criminal activities, apprehend suspects and protect citizens across the country.
The police urged members of the public to continue providing credible information that could assist security agencies in preventing and combating crime.
