SUPPLEMENTARY ELECTIONS:Niger Police beef-up security in affected LGAs ….. As CP assures residents of seamless exercise

In view of the forthcoming House of Assembly supplementary elections slated for Saturday, 15th April, 2023 in fifteen polling units of four LGAs of Niger State which are Agaie, Agwara, Rafi and Rijau LGAs.

The Commissioner of Police, Niger State Command CP Ogundele J. Ayodeji has ordered for deployment of at least three DPOs and more policemen from neighbouring Divisions of election areas to join the DPOs of Agaie, Agwara, Rafi and Rijau to beef-up and boost the security strength in the areas, as well as to ensure adequate security coverage of all the fifteen polling units within the LGAs.
This deployment was in addition to the armed PMF personnel deployed to escort sensitive and non-sensitive materials to the aforementioned areas, and to equally maintain high level of visibility policing and confidence-building patrol before, during and after the election.
The CP equally directed Area Commanders of New-Bussa, Bida and Kotangora to coordinate and supervise the security arrangements for the electoral exercise within their AOR with election monitoring teams for each of the LGAs.
Police therefore admonished members of the public, most especially the people of Agaie, Agwara, Rafi and Rijau to exercise their franchise peacefully devoid of any political violence, thuggery or snatching of electoral materials, as the Command has emplaced necessary security arrangements for a peaceful and credible State House of Assembly supplementary election in the State.
