It was a tactful foresight, the decision of President Muhammadu Buhari in appointing people from Borno State into strategic positions in government, especially in sensitive areas that could address the challenges of terrorism in the country. Nigerians expected that the Boko Haram insurgency would be history within fours years, with the appointments of the late Abba Kyari as the Chief of Staff to the President; Major General Babagana Monguno (rtd.) as the National Security Adviser and Lt. General Tukur Buratai as the Chief of Army Staff, because they are all…

Buhari: A Hope Betrayed By A. S. Gashinbaki

President Buhari’s glaring failure pose a dire threat to our “cognitive immunity” – our ability to separate a liar from the truthful, and a competent being from the incompetent. We’re now left conflicted as our conviction is overturned, leaving us unable to trust our own judgement. The crisis of trust we now face is twofold, first against our leaders and now within our own being. A man can put-up with not being able to trust others but when he can’t trust himself then chaos is imminent. The electorates are bound…

Gov. Zulum, the Military, and Boko Haram By Timawus Mathias

Both of them need to wage war together against the Boko Haram insurgents at the nation’s jugular these past 10 years and from all that we can see, there is no agreement over methods and evidence of commitment. This has taken the Buhari Administration leaps backwards from giant strides made in the counter insurgency effort. Victory that seemed in sight is now looking like a mirage I  understand Governor Zulum very well and I think…
