Bandits abduct District Head in Niger

Gunmen suspected to be bandits have kidnapped the district head of Wawa community in Borgu Kingdom, Dr. Mahmud Ahmed Aliyu. Nigerian Troops arrest suspected bandit in possession of military kits

Troops of the Nigerian Army, operating along Mokwa-Jebba road, have arrested a fleeing bandit during a stop and search operation along the road on Sunday. The arrest was effected at about 9:00pm, when the troops intercepted a car traveling from Zuru to Ibadan. The vigilant troops spotted an occupant of the vehicle, who claimed to be Sgt. Aminu Sule. The 42 students, staff members and others kidnapped by bandits at Government Science College, Kagara, Niger State have regained freedom   The abductees comprised 27 students, 3 staff members and 12 relations of staff members.’   According to the Nation, sources said the abductees, who were at a different location from the kidnapped passengers, are also on their way to Minna   The abducted passengers were said to be in Minna but yet to get to the Government House to meet Governor Abubakar Sani-Bello, who will receive them officially.
