ADDRESS TO THE NATION BY HIS EXCELLENCY, MUHAMMADU BUHARI, PRESIDENT OF THE FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF NIGERIA ON THE ENDSARS PROTESTS, 22ND OCTOBER, 2020

Fellow Nigerians   It has become necessary for me to address you having heard from many concerned Nigerians and having concluded a meeting with all the Security Chiefs. 2. I must warn those who have hijacked and misdirected the initial, genuine and well – intended protest of some of our youths in parts of the country, against the excesses of some members of the now disbanded Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS). 3. On Monday 12th October, I acknowledged the genuine concerns and agitations of members of the public regarding the excessive…

PUTTING OUR MONEY WHERE OUR MOUTH IS

There is a story that President Muhammadu Buhari likes to tell. He has done so many times in public and private meetings. It goes thus: “After we got inaugurated into office in 2015, I asked the Governor of Central Bank for the state of our finances. He said no money. I was alarmed, and asked where all the money went. Before then, oil prices had hit 143 dollars per barrel, and stabilized at 100 dollars per barrel for a long time. But I was being told there was no money.…

Closure of Minna-Bida: The Intervention of the FG By Abdullberqy U. Ebbo

When the Government of Niger state elected to close state roads to heavy duty vehicles, it was with the sincerest intention to keep the collapsing roads manageable, and to provide the contractors on site ample room to continue work, even in the wet season. Our intention was never to antagonize the FG or anyone for that matter. We only found ourselves in a desperate situation that required a desperate action. This is why we are shocked by the reactions of some individuals in the wake of the directive by His…

YES, NIGERIA IS COLLAPSING FORWARD By Femi Adesina

In the past one week, those who think they own Nigeria, and their cohorts, have been making magisterial pronouncements on the state of the nation. What they couldn’t get through the ballot box in 2019, they are attempting to achieve through misinformation, disinformation, malevolence, false narrative, and outright malediction. Former President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, wants us to believe that the country is collapsing, and is now a basket case, with the economy and unity in tatters. Fine. Nigeria has a lot of challenges. Insecurity. Insularity. Fallen economic fortunes. Rising costs.…

President Buhari focused on nation building and unity of Nigeria By FEMI ADESINA

To state that we live in challenging times is perhaps an understatement and does very little justice in accurately capturing our current realities. Those realities include a world faced with a pandemic the scale of which hasn’t been seen in 100 years. The crisis has crippled economies, destroyed global supply chains and obliterated once productive and viable sectors of the economy. Our dear nation has not been spared in this difficult period and, indeed, has felt the impact of the global crisis. But as a responsive government, the Buhari administration…
